A few times a year, OverDrive hosts a global eBook club, called the Big Library Read.  The Big Library Read offers one digital title to be borrowed at the same time without any wait lists or holds.  It is a worldwide digital version of a book club.

In October OverDrive is focusing on Juvenile and Young Adult titles for its upcoming selection.

Past Big Library Read books include, The Other Einstein by local Pittsburgher Marie Benedict.  Most recently Benedict released the popular title, Carnegie’s Maid.  Take a look at all the past titles that have been a part of OverDrive’s Big Library Read in the past.

Up until Thursday, Aug. 2nd you have the opportunity to help select the next Big Library Read for OverDrive.  Check out all the upcoming titles here and cast your vote!

The Library of Congress is a treasure trove of information as we all know. And their website, loc.gov, has made many physical items from their physical collection available digitally. You can find the correspondence of important American historical figures such as Abraham Lincoln, Benjamin Franklin, Susan B. Anthony, Alexander Hamilton, and Abigail Adams.

A few more examples:
• Images of vintage baseball cards.
• Films of San Francisco before and after the earthquake of 1906.
• Films of the Westinghouse Works in Wilmerding, PA in 1904
The Digital Collection from the Library of Congress is a great site for students who need images or resources for a project. And it’s a great place to browse if you are a fan of history like I am!

Aside from offering a variety of legal documents, Gale Legal Forms Library has useful tools for small business owners. The Legal Q & A and Legal Life Articles sections, listed on the top left side of the main page, provide access to information patrons will find valuable and easily accessible.

The Small Business questions listed under Legal Q & A offer answers and advice on a range topics.  Owning a Business in the Legal Life Articles section has an overview of business planning and helpful definitions.

• A form search for small business will yield Small Business – Packages, conveniently consisting of forms grouped by the business owners needs.
• The Attorney Directory has a list of small business attorneys in our area.
• The Legal Definitions section has many business term descriptions.
