DRC Training: BlueCareer and FinancialFit
Recorded Tuesday, September 23, 2025

Session Description:
Join the Digital Resources Committee as we review two new additions to our database collection: BlueCareer and FinancialFit.

BlueCareer provides information on more than 100 skilled trades, connects patrons with hundreds of trade schools across the US and Canada, and provides training resources for those seeking to build their trade knowledge and experience. Included is BlueRecruit, a simple, mobile-friendly way for job seekers to connect with employers.

FinancialFit is designed to support patrons at every stage of their financial journey. It offers patrons short, easy-to-understand lessons, videos, and interactive tools to help develop and support basic financial literacy. Print material that provides similar information is consistently popular with our users, and we’re excited to be able to offer this digital resource as well!

Answers to Questions from Training:

How many employees are there in our region who are using BlueRecruit:? At this moment, we have about 135 employers in their area with HVAC, Plumbing, General Construction and Machining (Manufacturing) being the trades that are most in-demand. Please share that our employer network changes every day, and it is free to their community, so please share this with your Chamber of Commerce, local employment partners etc. to create an even more robust hiring marketplace for their members.

Hiring and recruiting text scams are becoming more commonplace. How would a patron know a message is from an actual BlueRecruit employer? We see and hear about these scams all the time. BlueRecruit will never ask for personal information via text message. All texts from BlueRecruit will come from phone number: (888) 306-8033. The texts that job seekers will receive from us will only require a response of YES or NO (this is how they accept job offers and approve the sending of their contact info to the employer). They will never receive a phone call from BlueRecruit, though an employer will be able to call/text them directly from their own business phone lines. If any job seeker has a concern of a potential scam, they are more than welcome to reach out to support@bluerecruit.us and we will verify the employer for them. For all companies that sign up, we do require they are located within the USA or Canada, must sign up with an email address with their company website domain, i.e. greg@handymanservices.com versus a gmail.com. If the company is small and does not have a company email domain, we do require them to provide an EIN so we confirm they are a legitimate business.
