2018 eResource Trainings

Please register on the ACLA training calendar for the sessions.

Marketing eResources Workshop – Thursday, April 19 @ 10 am at Upper St. Clair Library
This workshop is designed to help staff market library e-Resources. We will talk about how to promote e-Resources on social media using pictures, links, and videos, finding content, scheduling posts and more. We will also discuss marketing with email, newsletter and print materials such as flyers, posters, stickers, etc. This workshop will be a great opportunity for us to share ideas and inspiration, discuss what others have tried, as well as their successes and failures in marketing library e-Resources.

OverDrive 2.0 Overview – Wednesday, May 9 @ 10 am at Baldwin Borough Public Library
It’s time to put this training into Overdrive–our primary eBook and eAudiobook resource for the county. We’ll walk through the app version, including its features, functions, and differences from the Overdrive website/console. Then we’ll look at some common issues with Overdrive and demo using the app across a variety of devices – the good, the bad, and the ugly! Finally, we’ll stage some App Wars, considering the newly remodeled Overdrive app, Libby, and how she stacks up against her predecessor. There will be time for Q&A afterward and sharing any weird issues YOU may have experienced. If you attended an eResources workshop last year, here’s your chance to dive even deeper into Overdrive. Presented by Heather Auman and Pam Calfo of the Downloadable Resources Committee. Eligible for 2.0 CE hours.

2017 eResource Trainings

The Digital Resources Committee is presenting four trainings throughout 2017. These trainings will provide a basic overview of the electronic databases and downloadable resources available in the county. The trainings will explain how to access, search, and promote e-resources to library patrons. It is designed as a first step in learning about these resources and is open to all library staff.  There will be four sessions throughout the year, one in each region, and each session will include a webinar component.

Two Continuing Education hours will be offered for those who attend a session either in person or via the webinar.
